Barriers to Participation in Archaeology Online Live Event Videography

Presentations from the Barriers to Participation in Archaeology Online event.

The afternoon workshop explored factors that might have limited or impeded public participation in archaeology and heritage via digital media and the Internet.

The event was structured in two halves:

In the first half, there were 6 short presentations by researchers and practitioners in the field of digital Public Archaeology. In the second half, there was an open discussion on the topics raised, moderated by the chair, Don Henson (Centre for Audio-Visual Study & Practice in Archaeology).

The discussion was enriched by the presence of participants from a wide variety of archaeological backgrounds and through active contributions via Twitter and a Wikispace. The hashtag for the event was #digipubarch. The outcome of the discussion was posted onto the Wikispace and was presented at a larger ACRN Public Archaeology conference held in November 2012.

What we did:

Live Event Videography – we recorded each presentation, edited the recordings and then published them so that we increased the reach, impact and accessibility of the event.
